In 2014 players began marking pickleball lines on two tennis courts in Jenkinsville Park in the Town of Queensbury. What started with 16 players quickly grew to a regular crowd and the Town of Queensbury’s Recreation Department encouraged the town to build 8 courts in place of the two tennis courts. The new courts opened in 2017.
The club’s mission is to simply encourage the growth and development of pickleball in our region.
In 2017 a group of volunteers, initiated by Robin Vernava, came together to form what is now the Adirondack Pickleball Club. There is no official organization although there are many leaders who make things happen for the club. There are no dues to join, you simply send an email to [email protected] and the club’s communication’s manager Ann McCullough adds you to the list. Now over 300 players are kept up-to-date about the courts seasonal opening and closing, special events like mixers, picnics, lessons, tournaments, Monday Night Drop-in and courts closings due to lessons.
ADK Pickleball Club players who have helped organize the club over the past years include: Ann McCullough, Cindy and Chuck Allen, Julie Chapman, Paul and Robin Campbell, Mary Hilliard, Lynne Michaels and Maura Fox.
